I was browsing for some Desert Storm 1 and US jungle BDU (pre digital camo) reference pictures and kit bashes at OSW for the upcoming OSM exhibition. Then I saw this:

The image below got me really interested in femfigs again.

No, not because it's plastic porn. The flexibility of a non visible joint figure is truly amazing. I have a HT muscular body from the Blackwater PMC figure and posing that figure is a nightmare, especially the elbow and shoulder joints. Plus not to mention that my current CG 1 femfigs have non dramatic poses like:

Of course, the Tumulus Raider pictures shown are just prototypes. How will the production models fare, only time can tell.

Unbelievable Price

I do understand that inflation is part and parcel of life, but nowadays I find boxed figures are out of reach. Now that HT is hooked onto money churning licensed figures, they have stopped producing military figures like they used to, and the last figure was priced exceptionally high, for my standards. Long gone were the days when I can get a boxed military HT figure for less then RM300.

Speaking of expensive figures, I paid a visit to Shiok Toys at e@Curve to window shop and rummage through their loose 1/6 items. The last visit i got a shock looking at a Barrett M82A3 50 cal anti material sniper rifle selling got RM159. What I saw last Sunday shocked me more, carded equipment from GIGN box figure are being sold above Rm200. that's 50% the price without the figure, uniform, armor, and 50% of other accessories.

At current times when the economy is crumbling, I was expecting to see some budget figures being introduce by these toy companies to keep themselves afloat. But I guess such niche market is less affected by the global economy.

The gathering was a HUGE success. It was a good thing that we planned for dinner TT so we can utilize the upper floor. Infact we took up the whole corner, approx 7 tables in total. 3 tables for action figure display and loose item trading, the other 4 for drinks, and food. Members was all over the place chatting about various 1/6 stuff.

Anddd..... 1/6 action figure exhibition 2009 is in the works.

Latest Haul: classic GSG9 and Desert Storm 1 marine

It's been a dreadfully long time since the last update. The economic situation hasn't been friendly to local toy importers and the introduction price of figures form manufacturers(in USD) are rising annually. Gone were the days where Dragon and bbi flooded the market with affordable 1/6 figures and at decent quality, compared to hasbro and 21C.

Anyways, I got a pleasant 1/6 surprise at last sunday Amcorp mall flea market. Loose Dragon 1/6 figures were for sale by Eddie Chew a fellow collector. I didn't have time to interview him as i was in a hurry, but i got these two fellow instead.

Classic GSG9 (German) and Desert Storm 1 Marine. Cost me RM65 each

I wasted no time displaying our latest member of the group. There's nothing to kitbash out of this guy as i wanted to retain originality of the classic GSG9 units like the illustration below.

I've sold the figure to Wai Sir a few days before 2009. Less one black ops figure for me, speaking of which, i've stopped collecting or kitbash any black ops figure for quite some time. my existing kitbash black ops has been stripped for other kitbashes.

I've already opened it, played it and put it on display. Have yet to take shots if it though. Will post the new figure in another week or two (when i stop procrastinating). yes, i know it's been a loooooong time since i last updated this blog. keeping 3 blogs, a facebook and still maintaining a friendster page is hard work.

Quite a turn out. Met a new member, Fisherman. Great guy, future pilot, but most importantly, 1/6 enthusiasts.

Beretta, Soho and Chris got SAD ops figure (2 each) and they are planning a group bash with it. I'd really like to keep mine mint for a little longer, until I've ran out of ideas on desert US forces and modern German figures.

Red part: I got Soldier Story CIA SAD ops figure a week ago (after a month long pre-order bulk which I shared with the rest of the OSM buddies) form Mel (Beretta). The figure is still MIB, although the box isn't in the most pristine condition, which have left me in a limbo, to claim this figure as mine, or keep it MIB as investment for future resale. I heard that the balaclava can fetch high price and there are people on e-bay paying premium price for the whole box just to get the balaclava.

I'll keep it MIB, for now...

Discard previous background because camo interfere with text, causing it difficult to read.Light desert 3 color was chosen to fix this text-background contrast eye sore.

VH Night Ops Jumper

A long long time ago, there was this company called Very Hot which produces 1/6 action figures. At first i was happy, but then was turn off by it's inferior quality when it reproduces Hot Toys famous SDU. This is their third attempt on the 1/6 industry and this time they looks promising, plus i was getting deperate for the LAW.

Product review:
Ironic isn't it, for someone who was so anti VH (Very Hot), the Hot Toys clone to be buying a VH Navy Seal Night Ops Jumper. But of course, my actions are justifiable in the sence i'm a kitbasher reborn and that i cannot wait for Hot Toys to release their weapon set which it release date never announced.

crapy looking box, still it does the job of keeping it's content from spilling out.

VH latest product is a figure-less Navy Seal Night Ops Jumper which means that the nude body is not included. at RM240 (from ultimate toys) for this thing, i wouldn't call it cheap although it's atleast RM50 cheaper from Hot Toys and RM80 cheaper from Toy Soilder which is famous for figure-less uniform sets.

It's a no brainer that VH products are VERY MUCH inferior to big players like Hot Toys and Toy Soilder. The puny clip buckle on the helmet are nothing more but stubs. and those stubs broke on the very first day i put it on my figure. though i do have replacement clips buckle to replace those stubs, it's the people who don't and those who are still very new to this kit bashing to stay away from VH products at the moment. because to replace every single stub is not cheap.

This set comes with M4A1 carbine and a LAW. the weapons are not weathered. Not that i'm bothered since i like my weapons unweathered and clean looking. I've always wanted a LAW to complete a bash of mine which has been WIP for almost 2 years. As for the carbine though, i've scavange its parts to beef up a SAW.

however, all is not lost. VH did a surprisingly well GOOD on the body armor and uniform which is bbi/master craft like in quality. the only difference is the velcro used by VH doesn't seems to be sticy enough and keep pelling off. guess i'll need to replace that too. but overall sewing of the vest is clean and no loose threads (which dragon is famous of). Now, not many manufacturers out there can make quality uniform like bbi, Hot Toys and Toy Solders. This, i'd say is a very good start for VH to penetrate the 1/6 market.

final verdict
VH is definitely not for amature or beigners since lots of parts need to be reworked. after all the time and money spent on improving it, might as well buy orifinal stuff from Hot Toys and Toy Soilder. Lastly, it's NOT CHEAP.

It's been ages since i was talking about having an online log on my plastic addiction, or more accurately 1/6 military action figures and collectables.

My initial plan of being a permanent resident at Onesixthwarrior (OSW) dot com to use it for showing off my collection and latest kitbashes failed all thanks to lousy internet connection by both Maxis and TMnut ISP. Uploading pictures, was a bitch, though downloading them wasn't any trouble at all. In the end, OSW
has been more of an information gathering site rather than a place i share my creations and collections. And since this is my first post here, what better picture to display other than my initial weapon rack that i did two years ago. plain simple and rather barren. Yes, to me 10 rifles is little. wait till you see my latest haul, or better yet, the kind of armory your average OSW member has (sadly i'm not one of them).
